New Rendering

So, I did another rendering for this Martini Bar because we switched spaces so I had to do a redesign. This time I decided to do a model of the space, did the whole rendering and model in about 12 hours. It was kind of rushed but I think it looks pretty good.......

This is my Martini Bar that I've been working on.

I've been working on this martini bar for a while now and the space has changed so now the design will too. I did these renderings of the original space and wanted to share them. But, remember, if you steel my designs, you'll burn..... ; ) Hope you like them!!!

Home Sweet Home

So, here's a concept board I just finished for a house in San Diego. It's just a rough board to give a feel for the space. I did it just now in like 3 hours, so cut me some slack......

Hello Hello Hello.......I'm back!!!!!

Well, I would like to start my post by saying, "Hello!" I'm so glad to be back in Chicago in my lovely apartment. However, I must say I've already been experiencing depression from missing Europe. I was recently on vacation in London, Scotland, and Paris. It was the most beautiful trip of my life. I was so excited to finally make my first trip to Europe. Here a couple of pictures of the places in Europe. I must confess because I've been so busy some of these picture I got online of the places where I was because I still haven't had a chance to download all of them yet.

What is feminine modern

Recently, a good friend of mine was commenting on how she like the pics I post on my blog, and how modern they are. She then asked what feminine modern would look like. In order to answer that question you must know what modern means. Modern really means the simplification of form and the elimination of ornamentation. So, it breaks the space down to the simplest form and is usually focused on the materials used to build the space and the shapes within the space, not the ornamentation. Having said that I have posted some images that I would consider feminine modern. Now that I have said that modern is about less if any ornamentation, you'll notice that in order to really make the space feminine you'll need some ornamentation, just make sure it's not cluttered. I would love to see suggestions and to get suggestions from people. I am also going to do an entry called, "What's your dream kitchen?" I welcome any an all comments and images on what your dream kitchen would look like.

Here's a project I did last year

This is the renovation to the Ravinia Festival Park Freehling Room. You may have never see this before because it's a private dining restaurant. The wall fixtures and ceiling pendants are original fixtures from the original theatre at Ravinia so they had to stay. This was a small project but the results were good. One of the main objectives was to anchor these fixtures to the wall and make them relevant to the space. The design I did for this space is a contemporary classic version of the prairie style. The wall stencil and screen applied to the space including the carpet design were inspired by stain glass windows. Hope you like it.

Cute VW

What can I say about this that it doesn't say itself......????

Forced Interaction

When designing a space you I am always forced to think about how the space with interact with the people and how the people will interact with the space. Some spaces force your interaction without you realizing it. Sometimes it's obvious like an object in the middle of the room that you have to walk around and other times it's as subtle as a side walk. Here are some pictures that Force Interaction, take a look and see if it inspires you.

Rhythm and Repetition

Rhythm and Repetition are two of my favorite things when thinking about architecture. I just love how you can see a pattern develop and how that pattern forces your interaction and guides you through a space.
